What’s a “Now” Page?

Last updated: August 2025

A “Now Page” is a simple way to share what we’re currently focused on. It’s not a blog or full history — just a snapshot of our priorities in this season. (Inspired by Derek Sivers’ idea of Now Pages).

What We’re Doing Now

  • 🌰 First Chestnut Harvest — At Woodcock Nature Preserve, we’re celebrating our first-ever chestnut harvest: a couple hundred pounds. It’s small, but it marks a huge milestone for us.

  • 🌳 Research with Missouri State — Conducting phenotypical analysis of 400 chestnut trees as part of a national chestnut improvement program.

  • 🍄 Porcini Project — We are mid SARE grant to study porcini mushroom inoculation methods in chestnut seedlings and orchards.

  • 🏡 Washington Road Farmhouse — Rehabbing the farmhouse at our newest site and planning a spring installation party.

  • 🎉 Fall Chest Fest — Preparing for our annual trip to Chest Fest at Route 9 Cooperative, held the first week of October each year.

Why This Page Matters

We update this page a few times a year so you can see what’s happening right now — in the orchards, on the farms, and in our lives.
